Barrels: We offer Barnett/Douglas (BDB),
Krieger, and Criterion, barrels in military contour which are legal
for John C. Garand matches. We also offer the
Douglas/Barnett in medium weight.
All chambers are cut to SAAMI specs.
Please Note:
Barrel prices do not include
disassembling and assembling of the rifle. A charge of
$30 will be added for DGR to disassemble and re-assemble
an entire rifle when installing a new barrel. To avoid
this charge, just send DGR your old barrel, receiver and
bolt when ordering a new barrel.
We have been receiving calls and
emails regarding chrome lined M1 barrels. After extensive
research we have decided not to offer the chrome-lined
barrels. Here are a few reasons why.
1) To
finish ream a chrome-lined barrel requires carbide
reamers, which are very expensive and easily broken.
2) Accuracy
with a chrome-lined barrel is hit or miss.
3)
The flaking of the chrome has never been solved as
far as our sources are concerned.
4)
It is our understanding that these barrels will not
be legal for John C. Garand matches.
Chrome-lined barrels were first
introduced on US military arms where corrosive ammo or
humid conditions exists, such as Viet Nam. While they
might sound like a good idea, we feel their limitations do
not meet DGR’s requirements for a quality barrel.
