DGR'S CUSTOM BUILT M1 GARANDS

Why DGR?

Only Dean’s Gun Restorations (DGR) offers each customer the opportunity to select their type and finish of stock sets, (Maple, Bastogne Hybrid Walnut, American Walnut and Claro & T-1 or T-2 finishes) has the industries best Mil-Spec Parkerizing, uses new springs, uses to spec or rebuilt op rods, and new stock & hand guard metal when building/rebuilding an M1.

Selecting your own stock set is not only fun, it guarantees you no one else will have exactly the same!  Instead of your M1 being a “cookie cutter” production line (all the same type) M1; with DGR it will be a “one off”, (no other like it exists).  You can either select from a few stock sets we try to keep on hand or select from photos of blanks before the stock set is cut by the manufacture.  You will now add your own personal touch to your M1.

I (Dean) have been Parkerizing for 24 years now.  I do not believe there is anyone in this business that produces better Parkerizing and pays attention to detail like DGR.  There is a great deal more to Parkerizing then just getting “color” but that information is a guarded secret.

The value of new springs is missed by few and we feel, why perform all the other work and have the M1 fail because new springs were not installed.  Just does not make sense to me and is border line stupid to use old springs, in my opinion.

Using an in spec or rebuilt op rod is usually not understood.  This is a huge advantage over others that are willing to use minimal spec op rods which can dismount from the receiver and/or cause failures with the rifle's gas system.  DGR exceeds military specs when dealing with op rods.

There are accuracy steps that DGR (trade secrets) makes to assure the best accuracy from your M1.  One of these steps only cost $8 but I never see my competition making this addition.  Plus any accuracy steps we take are John C. Garand match approved.  So if you are looking for a new M1 or wanting your M1 rebuilt, DGR is the only one that can give you a look/quality unequaled by others.

M1 Tanker!

(Click on above pictures to enlarge, then hit the back button to return)

DGR built M1 tankers with the original length 18 1/4" new Criterion barrel.  Since the late 1960s tankers have been commercially made and all modified parts were made for the 18 1/4" barrel.  That means you can find replacement parts from other sources.  If you deviate from the 18 1/4" barrel you will be restricted to purchasing replacement parts (op rod, follower rod and etc.) from a single supplier.  This is one reason I decided to only use the 18 1/4" barrel.  The 18 1/4" barrel has always been the standard length all parts were designed around.

The DGR Tanker Includes

New Criterion barrel in either 30-06, 7.62 MM or .308

New stock set with DGR's hand rubbed oil finishes

New stock and hand guard metal

Rebuilt op rod with new piston and stud

New springs

New Mil-Spec Parkerizing and finishing of the gas cylinder parts

1 year warranty

You can also add a forward scope mount and muzzle break.

Add $230 for the tanker version to the rifle prices listed above.

UltiMak M1 & M1 carbine scope mounts!

M1 Garand, Model M12 Mount...$185.00

M1 Carbine, Model M6-B...$93.00

  • Perfect for intermediate eye relief scopes or dot sights

  • Clamps to barrel for perfect alignment

  • Solid, hard anodized with 4140 steel clamps.  (This is the main feature that sets this mount apart from others in Dean's opinion.  The screws and brackets they screw into are steel where on other models the steel screws attach to the aluminum mount.)

  • (The picture above shows the mount painted to match the gas cylinder.  The mounts come to us with black anodizing and blued strapping parts.  DGR recommends the mount be painted with our colored bake on lacquer to match the gas cylinder and the steel parts be Parkerized.  Additional cost for this service is $18.00)
