Priced at $40 a pound with 2 pound
minimum.
This does not include parts from the M1 gas cylinder
which will not Parkerize. This also does not
include the cost for disassembling or assembling of
parts, which is price by the part.

Due to
the excessive amount of cosmoline and grease found on
some firearms, DGR reserves the right to apply
additional cleaning charges when ....
Two cleanings are
required, an additional amount of $20.00 will be
added to the cost. (See Note Below)
Three cleanings are required, an additional amount of
$40.00 will be added to the cost. (See
Note Below)
Full tech inspection to assure the firearms safety and
function. DGR gages and records
all critical measurements on a rifle before other work is started.
This tech inspection informs our customer of what is worn and to what
degree. This gives the customer a clear picture of the condition of
their firearm and allows them to make important decisions regarding
what parts if any should be replaced. The tech report has also become
a selling tool. People who have sold DGR re-built rifles have
included the tech report, which gave the person purchasing the rifle a
clear understanding of what they were getting.
Meticulous metal preparation prior to the Parkerizing
process.To assure
proper coverage when Parkerizing, each and every part needs to be
clean and free of all grease or oils. Each part is cleaned in a parts
washer, rinsed in hot water and dried with compressed air. A clean,
(lightly oiled) patch is then run through the bore before the bore is
plugged for the Parkerizing process.
Removing burs from screws and metal parts. This might be one of the
most distinguishing aspects of DGR’s Parkerizing. Most other
companies just apply a new finish to old parts without first removing
noticeable dings and burs. You end up with an old part that has a new
finish, but still looks old from the dings and burs. DGR takes the
needed time to polish and re-shape all parts to assure the parts look
as close to new as possible before Parkerizing. This is one reason
why customers tell us our Parkerizing is unmatched in the industry.
Genuine, Mil-Spec parkerizing of
all metal, following the time-honored, government armory process that
meets MIL-SPEC STND –171. Stainless steel parts,
springs, and barrel bores will not be Parkerized.(Please
note that stainless steel metal such as the gas cylinder system on the M1
will not parkerize. These parts are finished with a closely matching
baking lacquer.) Manganese phosphate, (parkerizing) offers excellent
rust and wear resistance when used as a final finish. It is
non-reflective, wears well, and due to its oil/lubricant trapping
ability, is outstanding in inclement weather.
Note:The gas
cylinder, lock and screw on the M1 Garand are treated with a baked-on
black or gray lacquer at no extra charge.
DGR disassembles all parts for
proper Parkerizing. This is important for
proper finishing. We have seen where others have not completely
disassembled the rifle, causing some areas not to have complete
coverage. This can cause these parts/areas to rust. This is
a common practice with trigger groups, butt plates and many other parts
that can be disassembled. The picture below shows a M1
trigger housing that was Parkerized by another company, where parts that
make up the trigger group were not disassembled before
Parkerizing. You can see where the safety and other parts remained
attached during the Parkerizing process. (Rest assured, you will not get
this type of poor workmanship from DGR!)
The parts on your rifle belong to you.
Unless you instruct us to replace parts, you will get your original
parts back.
DGR will highlight all numbers and letters.
If you do NOT want the highlighting, please let us know in
advance.
Type 1 Finish - Fancy
Finish - Used most often on Extra Fancy Grade
stocks, birch stock sets or custom built rifles. This is a shiny oil finish
that truly brings out the color and figure in the wood. DGR finishes
these stocks set down to 600 grit to allow the depth of the wood to come out.
Type 2 Finish -
Un-issued/Original Finish - Used most
often when the wood has never been sanded before, does not have deep dents
that require filler. This finish was developed to look like the finishes
found on original issue stock sets. The finish is smooth like the type 1,
but duller. DGR finishes these stock sets to 220 grit.
Type 3 Finish -
Arsenal Finish - This finish is perfect
for that stock set that has a few dings and dents that have to be
filled. This finish is rougher, duller and stained darker.
NOTE: This finish is not recommended where stock markings wish to be
preserved! Most cartouches and P stamps will not be visible after this
finish has been applied.
Painstaking preservation of all cartouches and/or other
markings.
Raising all dings or dents that can be raised through
conventional means.
Epoxy filling of deep gouges as per government rebuild
practice.
Micro wood finishing.
Military-spec stock stain
Custom hand-rubbed oil finish where several coats are used,
so the drying process takes much longer than that of other commercially
available stocks. The results are a more attractive stock with a
longer lasting finish.
Gas Operation System:
Gage and list the dimensions of the gas cylinder and operating
rod.
Timing: Check the timing
and related parts.
Stock Condition: Check
the lock up and related parts to assure the best chance of accuracy. An
overall condition of the stock and hand guards will also be
noted.
Springs: Check the
condition of all springs.
Sights: Check for
tightness and function.
Function Tests: We will
perform three separate "non firing" function test.
Lubrication: All moving
and related parts will be lubricated with our special
grease.
A written report will accompany the rifle
when returned.
